As an artist, Ladislav Majoroši has worked in various educational and cultural institutions. He earned his artistic and pedagogical qualifications through two university degrees at the Faculty of Education in Prešov and UPJŠ in Košice, which he completed by passing a rigorous exam.
Ladislav Majoroši, as a perceptive artist, does not tire the audience with “overused” works. He has the courage to experiment, explore, and, most importantly, create without sticking to a single theme. He mainly works with acrylic painting, but also uses pastel or oil paints. He paints because he enjoys it; for him, it is a way to become a “Creator,” deciding the entire process of creation. As he says himself, he paints alongside gardening. If the weather is nice, he prefers to be outside rather than indoors, which means he doesn’t paint. He appreciates humor, and if he manages to infuse even a little of it into his work, he considers it added value that makes life more enjoyable. Painting is not something routine for him, but rather a matter of current feeling, sometimes even chance. Many of his works are created spontaneously, and he often revisits them later. If he’s not satisfied with a painting, he sometimes reworks it entirely, resulting in a new and different piece.
In addition to painting, he has also engaged in small-scale ceramic work, drawn humor, and video production. In his work, and perhaps in his entire life, change and exploration are important. He creates to the sounds of music, but when things aren’t going well, the studio must be silent.
His works have been exhibited individually, mainly in the cities of eastern Slovakia, but also in Bratislava and Martin. He has also exhibited abroad—in the USA, Austria, and Poland. Currently, he lives and creates in Sečovce.
