Lucia Škultéty lives and works in Košice, Slovakia. Her work explores visually inspiring perceptions combined with a rich inner world of emotions and observations of various aspects of her surroundings. She engages in a diverse range of artistic genres, from vivid and dynamic abstract paintings and surrealist compositions to expressionism and imaginative reflections of reality and its perception, as well as the realm of imagination.
Her landscapes transition into abstract forms inspired by everything from nature and architecture to brain neurons and the uncharted surreal landscapes of bizarre yet aesthetically captivating possibilities around us. She has a talent for combining and stylizing shapes and colors, as well as a sensitive appreciation of diverse influences. She is fascinated by the human brain, consciousness, subconsciousness, the realm of dreams, and the real world. Her inspirations range from people and their inner experiences to nature, animals, the cosmos, sci-fi, design, and architecture. With a wide variety of interests, numerous areas continue to spark her curiosity.
Her colorful compositions of acrylic paintings are playful and dynamic, certain to brighten both the mind and any interior. Additionally, she creates black-and-white surreal drawings. Apart from painting, she focuses on drawing, often figurative and filled with surreal elements. For roughly three years, she has been creating unique reinterpretations of real objects, transforming them into other elements of reality. The result is often humorous illustrations that give real objects an original and alternate character.
She enjoys traveling from reality into the world of fantasy, and her work serves as a journey into the realm of imagination.
She studied fine arts and English at Prešov University in Prešov and completed a 10-month Comenius internship in Turin, Italy. She currently works as an art teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Košice. In 2009, she won first place for painting, and in 2011, she earned second place in category B at the regional art competition Košická Paleta in Košice. She has participated in several group exhibitions, such as Dámska jazda in Košice at the Cultural Center Gallery of KSK (2009, 2011, 2012). Beyond Košice, she has also exhibited in Sárospatak, Hungary.
Her paintings stand out for their unique style, energy, and dynamism, drawing viewers into a vibrant world of diverse themes, colors, and shapes.
