Darina Szöllösiová is a renowned stained glass artist and glass artist.
“Glass is my passion. I studied geodesy and cartography at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, but I have devoted most of my professional life to working with glass. When I am not creating with glass in the studio, I am thinking about it. Even on holidays, I seek out stained glass windows in churches and visit glass galleries.”
Part of my work consists of commissioned stained glass projects. I create my own artistic designs, but I have also worked based on designs by well-known artists, such as Miroslav Cipár and Peter Čambál. When I was starting out, my dream was to create windows for a church. Today, I have completed stained glass works for six churches and two funeral halls.
One of my greatest challenges was a project at the château in Pezinok, where I restored and created replicas of the original stained glass windows. For the hotel section, I designed new stained glass for windows, doors, and furniture, and for the winery and chapel, I produced stained glass works based on designs by Miroslav Cipár. The entire project took one and a half years to complete.
